Fletcher is so close to one of the hottest vacation spots in the United States. Do you know why people are flocking to Asheville, North Carolina? We all know that the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate, and outdoor activities have been long-time tourist draws, but there’s even more in the area to offer when you take a look at restaurants in Asheville and Asheville nightlife. See what all the fuss in Asheville is all about with the Apple Tree Acura guide to Asheville nightlife and restaurants in Asheville.

Great Restaurants in Asheville

From Carolina barbecue to fine dining restaurants, there are plenty of great dining options in the Asheville area. While we enjoyed plenty of great carry-out recently, it’s time to enjoy visiting some of the area’s best restaurants:

Foothills West — 697 Haywood Road

Where better to get a steak than at a butcher shop that specializes in locally-sourced ingredients? This unassuming strip mall resident is full of surprises, from their guest policy—they only serve one party a night and require a reservation—to an inspired cocktail menu you won’t find at any other butcher shop. Gather your friends and pay a visit.

Star Diner — 115 North Main, Marshall

Another delightful surprise that’s a lovely road trip northwest of Hendersonville: this fine dining restaurant looks like the 1940s filling station it used to be from the outside, but on the inside you’ll find white tablecloths and cozy seats with a menu loaded with southern takes on classic European cuisine, like southern fried chicken saltimbocca.

Early Girl Eatery — Four Locations

For casual and local three-meals-a-day dining, there’s probably an Early Girl Eatery nearby no matter where you are in the Johnson City area. For over 20 years, Early Girl has focused on southern diner fare made from seasonal, local ingredients. Molasses-glazed cornbread is a must on the side of everything, from the biscuit French toast to the pork barbecue mac and cheese.

Baked Pie Company — Two Locations

In a city where brew pubs are the culinary backbone, it makes sense that other establishments would adopt the flight concept: small servings of multiple varieties. That’s right, you can get pie flights with three slightly downsized slices at Baked Pie Company. Which is great, because just try to decide between flavors like hazelnut cream, sugar crack, or whiskey silk.

Asheville Nightlife

Nights in Asheville are dictated by the largest craft beer community in the country, a world-class music venue, and spectacular mountain views from an urban perch.

South Slope Brewing District — Between Biltmore Avenue and Ashland Avenue, South of Patton Avenue

It’s nearly impossible to narrow down Beer City U.S.A. to one must-visit brewery. Luckily, many of the best are located together in the South Slope Brewing District in downtown. Spend an evening walking from one brewery to the next, taking in the murals and art galleries. If you decide to switch to sake served in a garden outside a rehabbed body shop, Ben’s Tune-Up is a great spot to settle in for the evening.

The Orange Peel — 101 Biltmore Avenue

Catch your favorite indie and local bands, DJs, and up-and-coming comedians at this venerable location that draws crowds from far outside Asheville after its repeated recognition as one of the best music venues in the country. Located in a mid-century Skateland Rollerdome, the relatively small space often sells out fast, so make sure you get your tickets in advance.

Asheville Rooftop Bar Tour — Downtown

What better way to take in the spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains than from a downtown Art Deco skyscraper rooftop? With a variety of tour options, Asheville Rooftop Bar Tours will do the driving, getting you to the best rooftop bars in the city where you’ll enjoy cocktails and views. We think the sunset tour is particularly lovely.
